Wyoming Retirement System Announces Leadership Transition
After five years of dedicated service as Chairman of the Wyoming Retirement System (WRS) Board of Directors, Mr. Tom Chapman is stepping down from his role. The WRS Board expresses its sincere gratitude to Mr. Chapman for his outstanding leadership and is grateful that he will continue to serve as a valued member of the Board.
Mr. Jeremy Smith has been elected the new Chairman of the WRS Board. Since joining the Board in 2022, Mr. Smith has taken on significant leadership responsibilities, including serving as Chair of the Legislative and Benefits Committee. He currently works as the Business Manager for Sheridan County School District #1 and brings extensive experience in school finance and administration to this new role. Beyond his professional career, he has been a volunteer Dayton firefighter since 2004 and has served on the Sheridan County Planning & Zoning Commission.
Additionally, the WRS Board is pleased to announce the re-election of Mr. Eric Nelson as Vice-Chairman. A member of the Board since 2015, Mr. Nelson currently serves as the Investment Committee Chair. With many years of experience as an attorney in Wyoming, he has worked in private practice, at the Wyoming Attorney General’s Office, as the Natrona County Attorney and presently as the City Attorney for the City of Casper. He is also actively involved in the Casper community, serving on multiple boards and civic organizations.
The WRS Board is grateful for Tom Chapman’s years of outstanding leadership and looks forward to the Board’s next chapter under the guidance of Chairman Jeremy Smith and Vice-Chairman Eric Nelson.
